This is officially getting weird. I read my devotional today, based out of Gen 37 & it speaks of Joseph seeking out his brothers who were tending the flocks. He can't find them @ 1st & then is directed to where they might be.

Brian, who wrote the article I linked in this post is from near by here...in Dothan. Joseph finds his brothers, finally, not in Shechem...but in Dothan.

Weird...

REALLY WEIRD! Lee, I just found your blog through a link to ??? I think Rick, anyhow I had just finished writing that I need to read Spencer's book and then I saw your comment on your blog. Interesting.

I like your blog...I'll be back. If you want to see what I just wrote about "Making sense of Church" look for the Got Books? link on my blog. My comment was not profound or anything...

God bless you,
Layla

Hey stud, you are a better writer.

I wonder about some of what this dude wrote: "Jesus commanded that we are to deny ourselves and to take up the cross. Actually, the truth of the matter is that we are to be as Jesus. We are to forsake everything and follow Him. Crucifying the flesh and its desires should be our main concern"

I just wonder what cross it is that we are supposed to pick up? My cross, right? I am a little lost as to what it means to follow Jesus, seriously. Seriously. I live in San Francisco and have been exposed to a huge gay population. I wonder if I were following Jesus and laying my life on the line what that would look like interms of how I treated these folks. As I reflect on the nature of CHrist revealed in scripture, I think he'd probably piss off some folks in the church. He may even re-interpret scripture and re-define the LAW just like he did 2,000 years ago. When I look at how he lived and what he lived for I am reminded that if I truly want to follow him I just may have to die.

I am not so sure that crucifying the flesh should be our main concern. UNless that means crucifying hate, stupidity, arrogance, exclusion, hypocrisy, and oppression.

I don't know, I struggle with following Jesus. I want to, but I am not so sure that the church is a great model for following Jesus in the way of Jesus.

I am rambling, but I am serious. Thanks for letting me rattle.
I may just post on my blog.

You are the man.

Rick

Hey Lee, have you ever read "Rock and Roll Rebellion" by Mark Joseph? It's about Christian muscicians are not into CCM scene. Your reference to the book "Simplicity" made me think of it. I want to take your suggestion and read it, but where can it? It's not on Amazon...

Thanks,
Layla
